Auto-discovery of topic and subject servers

Here is an interesting article by Ben Trott on Auto-Discovery of Subject and Topic servers. He comments briefly on the current use and suggests two methods in which this could be used in the future.
Auto Discovery refers to a method in which a journal or blog entry for example can look for information of similar subject from an external source and "discover" and link to this location.
