The end of Click Here

Dave Phillips from Cafedave.net has posted a great link to an article which comments on the end of the “click here” hyperlink. The article makes reference to Donald Norman and also his views on this.

The article comments on the argument that a well formed hyperlink without “Click Here” can convey exactly what it’s linking to, without interrupting the flow of the writing. Here is an example:
1995: I love the TV show Monkey Magic; click here to visit a fan site.
2003: I love the TV show Monkey Magic.
Norman and others suggest that by not having “Click Here” it doesn’t instruct a user enough into clicking and for example, could affect new users of the Web. It is an interesting discussion nevertheless.
